This is the longest sea bridge in the country. Its entire length is 21.8 kilometers. This bridge was completed in seven years. More than Rs 17,840 crore has been spent in its preparation. The length of the bridge is about 16.5 km on sea and about 5.5 km on land.
After the opening of the bridge, the traffic system of Mumbai is expected to improve. The bridge has been built on the basis of Public-Private Partnership (PPP). The operation and maintenance of the bridge will be done by Mumbai Trans-Harbour Link Corporation (MTHL).
With the opening of the bridge, people going from Mumbai to Pune and Goa will also get convenience. A total of 1212 lighting poles were used in the construction of Atal Bridge. When the work of preparing this bridge was at its peak, about 14,000 people were working here every day.
How much will the toll be?
If you travel by MTHL, you will have to pay a toll of Rs 250 for a one-way journey. There is a charge of Rs 375 for round trip. The government says that the toll will be reviewed after one year. Currently, toll has to be paid on Bandra-Worli Sea Link at Rs 85 and Rs 127 for round trip. Driving bikes, autos and tractors will be prohibited on MTHL. 177,903 metric tons of steel and 504,253 metric tons of cement have been used in making it.
