'Sugarcane became sweeter' before elections, sugarcane rate increased by Rs 20... Yogi government gave a gift

HR Mandi Bhav, UP Government Sugarcane Price: Just before the Lok Sabha elections, the UP government has given a big gift to the farmers of the state. 

Farmers of the state had been demanding increase in the price of sugarcane for a long time, which has now been fulfilled by the Yogi government. 

The UP government on Thursday increased the State Advisory Price (SAP) for sugarcane by Rs 20 per quintal. The decision in this regard was taken in the Council of Ministers meeting chaired by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.

Sugar Industry and Sugarcane Development Department Minister Lakshmi Narayan Chaudhary told reporters that the price of sugarcane has been increased by Rs 20 per quintal. The price of early variety will now be Rs 370 per quintal while the price of normal variety will be Rs 360. 

Increase of Rs 55 per quintal in 6 years

Till now the purchase price of early variety of sugarcane was Rs 350 per quintal and the purchase price of normal variety was Rs 340 per quintal. He said that in the last six years, the Yogi Adityanath government has increased the price of sugarcane by Rs 55 per quintal. 

The price was Rs 315 in 2017

In 2017, the price of sugarcane was Rs 315 per quintal. He said that during the previous government, sugar mills in the state were on the verge of closure. 

aHe said that there are 42 lakh families in Uttar Pradesh who cultivate sugarcane and 45 lakh laborers are engaged in this work. 

The last increase was in 2022

Before the 2022 state assembly elections, the state government had increased the SAP of sugarcane by Rs 25 per quintal, after which the revised price increased to Rs 350 per quintal.
