WhatsApp: A big update has come out for WhatsApp users. If you break this condition, your WhatsApp will end. WhatsApp has challenged the Information Technology Act 2021 in the Delhi High Court.
The Delhi High Court challenged the Information Technology Rules 2021 and said that WhatsApp will end if the privacy conditions are broken. On August 14, a petition challenging the Information Technology Rules 2021 has been presented in the High Court by WhatsApp and its parent company Meta.
The bench headed by Chief Justice Manmohan asked both the parties whether any other country has any law on this subject. The lawyer appearing for WhatsApp said that there is no other such law in the world. He claimed that this rule was implemented without any consultation and was against the freedom of users.
They will have to break the condition of privacy and keep millions of messages safe for many years. By doing this the company will be finished.
Justice Manmeet PS Arora, a member of the bench, said that privacy rights are not absolute and a balance should be made. The lawyer of the central government said that these rules are necessary in cases like communal violence.
The next hearing in the case is on August 14
The Centre also said that such a system should be developed as a larger public responsibility if a platform does not have the means to trace the first originator without breaking encryption.
The government released the Information Technology Act, 2021 on February 25, 2021, according to which major social media platforms like Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp were supposed to follow the latest rules.
The bench said that the matter be listed for hearing on August 14. This should be done so that all other petitions challenging various aspects of the 2021 IT Rules can be referred to it as per the Supreme Court order.
