One phone call and Rs 52 lakh lost from account, doctor becomes victim of online fraud

After this they cheat people. By the time people realize the fraud, it is too late and people suffer losses worth lakhs of rupees. Another similar case has come to light from Tamil Nadu.

This is the whole matter
According to the report of Times of India, a gang of thugs defrauded the doctor of Rs 52 lakh. The fraudsters were calling themselves FedEx and CBI officers.
On January 11, a call was received from a person who claimed to work for FedEx. The caller told her that a banned item had been sent from Taiwan using her Aadhaar card as an identity card and the police had registered a case against him.
The fraudster called by posing as a CBI officer
The next day the doctor got another call. This time a person introduced himself as a CBI officer.
The alleged officer then falsely accused him of being involved in money laundering and directed him to transfer the funds from his two bank accounts to a designated CBI account in Mumbai.
Believing that the call came from a genuine police representative, the doctor transferred an amount of Rs 52,10,364 to the given account through RTGS.
However, when the doctor tried to contact the callers, the numbers were switched off. The doctor realized that he had been cheated. After this the doctor contacted the police for help.
This is not the first case when scammers have targeted victims with phone calls. In recent months many people have become victims of online fraud.
