Noida NCR: New law implemented in the entire state including Ghaziabad and Noida, read important rules before purchasing a flat

HR Mandi Bhav, UP News: After the implementation of the Lift and Escalator Act 2024, builders in Ghaziabad, Noida and Greater Noida of Uttar Pradesh will have to take permission from the Energy Department before installing lifts. Besides, cleaning will also be mandatory every year.
Uttar Pradesh: Yogi government is going to make a new law for lifts and escalators. This new law is designed to reduce elevator and escalator accidents.
After the implementation of this law, builders will have to take permission from the Energy Department before installing lifts in Uttar Pradesh including Ghaziabad, Noida and Greater Noida. Along with this, cleaning will also be necessary every year.
After the implementation of this law, the responsibility of both builders and lift installation companies for lift accidents will be determined. This decision was taken in the cabinet meeting chaired by UP CM Yogi Adityanath on Monday.
Note that the lift law is applicable in other states of the country including Haryana, Delhi, Himachal Pradesh, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Karnataka and West Bengal.
Its safety is also important while using it. This is the reason why the UP government is now going to bring a bill making it mandatory to follow safety rules. Now builders will have to complete necessary safety measures for the safety of lifts built in Ghaziabad, Noida and Greater Noida of Delhi-NCR.
New lift law implemented in UP also
After an accident in Noida last year, there was a demand to implement uniform lift laws across the country. In September, eight workers died in an accident at the Amrapali Dream Valley project site in Greater Noida.
Many families lost their lives after this accident. Note that there are frequent reports of elevator collapses and entrapments across the country. But the country has not yet made any concrete law on lift accidents.
Now it is difficult to get a lift license
There are rules on lifts in only ten states of the country. To install a lift, a license is required in the states. These states include Maharashtra, Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Kerala, West Bengal, Assam, Himachal Pradesh, Haryana and Delhi.
Experts believe that the Lift Acts of these states and union territories are not effective. In some states of the country, a license is required to operate a lift. But, lifts are still running without license in many states.
It is noteworthy that the lifespan of a lift is approximately two to twenty years. But even after two-twenty to twenty-five years the lift is not replaced.
According to the 2016 National Building Code, it is mandatory to install lifts in buildings more than 15 meters high. Stretcher lifts are also required for buildings taller than 30 metres.
