Ratan Tata died on Wednesday night at the age of 86. After this, a meeting of the Tata Trust Board was held to choose his successor. In this, the name of Noel Tata was finalized.
Noel has been associated with the Tata Group since 1999. He is also the chairman of Voltas and Tata International. After the death of Ratan Tata, Noel was at the forefront of the race to replace him. However, the name of Ratan Tata's long-time confidant Mehli Mistry was also discussed.
Noel Tata last held an executive position as MD of Tata Group's Tata International Limited between August 2010 and November 2021. He took the company's business from US$500 million to over $3 billion. Prior to his tenure at Tata International, Noel was the MD of Trent Limited.
