The apex court has ordered the builder of Chintels Paradiso Society of Gurugram to pay alternative house rent to about 125 flat owners. These people had agreed to vacate the site only to rebuild their house.

Let us tell you that two people died and many were injured after the roof collapsed in Chintels Paradiso Society in February 2022. The safety audit of the society had revealed the existence of danger. After this the flat owners were ready to temporarily shift to another house. It was found that five towers of the society were unsafe.
The Supreme Court was hearing the petition of about 188 families of the society in this case . These people had approached the Supreme Court demanding an investigation into the accident that took place on February 10, 2022.
Also, a demand was made for safety audit to avoid any such incident in future. CBI had got the safety audit done by IIT-Delhi.
The court took up the issue of alternative housing for flat owners who choose to live in the society. Provided that the builder is ready to build a flat again at the same place.
But some flat buyers had chosen the option to surrender the flat in exchange for the amount paid for the flat including stamp duty. The bench had said in its order that those builders who want to re-build the project will have to vacate the building.
Now, the Supreme Court has ordered the builder to provide rent to those who have shifted to another place to build a flat.
