The Hr Mandi Bhav, Delhi Electricity Bill: The Cabinet of Delhi Government, while approving the new solar energy policy by 2024, has promised to reduce the electricity bill to zero for the residents of Delhi. 

In the new policy, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said that the bill for consumers purchasing up to 400 units of electricity will be zero. He claimed that under the Solar Energy Act, those installing solar panels on the roof of their houses will earn Rs 700 to Rs 900 per month.

In a press conference at Delhi Secretariat, Kejriwal said that the basis of solar energy policy was prepared in 2016. Due to this, today 1500 MW solar energy is being used in Delhi. 

Out of this, 250 MW electricity has been generated by the people of Delhi themselves by installing solar panels, while 1250 MW is being purchased from outside. In the new energy policy, the electricity bill of domestic consumers will be zero and that of commercial and industrial consumers will be half.

You will get the facility to make payment every month-

In 2024, the new solar power policy removed the requirement of 1100 units of solar power generation annually for the first production-based incentive, and also introduced a number of incentives to encourage installation of rooftop solar panels. The Chief Minister said that now monthly payments will be made after installing solar panels. Consumers will get Rs 700 to 900.

The government will continue to give money for five years-

Kejriwal said that the solar energy policy of Delhi government will provide money till 2024. On installing solar panels of three kilowatt capacity, the Delhi government will deposit Rs 3 per unit in your bank account. 

Installing solar panels with a capacity of three to ten kilowatts will cost two rupees per unit. Delhi government will continue to fund this solar energy production for five years.

Claim of 4500 MW production-

The Chief Minister said that due to the new solar energy policy, there will be 4500 MW solar energy production in Delhi by 2027. Solar panels with a capacity of 750 MW will be installed on the rooftop, while the discom (electricity company) will purchase 3750 MW from outside. The government will give a maximum subsidy of Rs 10,000 per kilowatt to those installing rooftop solar panels.
