Yes, this is not a joke but a reality. Chandan Kumar and Devendra Singh, residents of Faridabad, have been arrested and sent to jail on charges of burning bonfire in the train. His action created a stir in the railways. After catching both of them, when they were interrogated about this, they said, 'We had lit a bonfire to save ourselves from the cold.'
Confessed to baking hands on bonfire in cold weather
Along with both the accused, some other people were also warming their hands on the bonfire in the cold. When RPF got information about this, during interrogation it was found that Chandan and Devendra had brought cow dung cakes for the bonfire.
Later he was landed in Aligarh and arrested. According to railway rules, traveling in a train with any inflammable substance is a legal offense. But do you know what other things you may have to go to jail for carrying in the train?
Ban on carrying these things:
Railways has imposed a ban on traveling with some things. The things that you cannot travel with include stove, gas cylinder, any kind of inflammable chemical, firecrackers, acid, leather or wet skin, smelly items, grease, ghee etc. If these items break or leak, it may cause trouble to fellow passengers.
There is a provision of both jail and fine.
Carrying the above mentioned items during railway journey comes under the category of crime. If you travel with any of these things, then action can be taken against you under Section 164 of the Railway Act. Under this, a fine of Rs 1000 or imprisonment of three years or both can be imposed on you.
Conditional permission to carry:
You can carry an empty gas cylinder while traveling by train by booking it in the brake van of the Railways. Brakevan is a separate coach in which you can carry the booked luggage safely. According to railway rules, up to 20 kg of ghee can be carried.
