But there will be a subsidy of Rs 18000 from the government on this. In this way, the customer will have to pay Rs 29000 for installing rooftop solar.

According to the rules, there should be 130 square feet space for this. The solar plant, built at a cost of Rs 47,000, will generate 4.32 Kwh/day of electricity every day, which comes to 1576 kWh/year annually. With this, the customer will save Rs 12.96 daily, and Rs 4730 in a year.

If your rooftop area is 700 square feet, then you will have to apply for a 3 kilowatt panel and your investment for installing a meter and solar panel of this capacity will be Rs 80,000. At the same time, the amount of subsidy received from the government will increase to Rs 36,000. 

That means you will have to spend only Rs 50,000 from your pocket for this. The maximum subsidy amount on meters with capacity greater than this is up to Rs 78,000.
