HR Mandi Bhav, New Delhi: The land acquisition process of the first phase to build the Khalilabad-Bahraich railway line will be completed by December. 

North Eastern Railway has sent Rs 160 crore to Sant Kabirnagar district administration and Rs 187 crore to Siddharthnagar district administration to compensate the farmers in lieu of acquisition. Acquisition will start soon.

The new Khalilabad-Bahraich railway line requires 1060 hectares of land over a distance of 240 km to connect the five districts of Sant Kabirnagar, Siddharthnagar, Balrampur, Shravasti and Bahraich.

There will be 32 stations on the new line, including four junctions, 16 crossings and 12 halts. 32 major bridges and 86 minor bridges will also be built, which will be two important major bridges. Apart from this, 132 underpasses and nine overbridges will also be built.

The district administration has given information for land acquisition in 54 villages in Sant Kabirnagar district. In the first phase, about 260 hectares of land will be required to be acquired from around 82 villages to build the 55 km long rail line from Khalilabad to Bansi. Lidar survey (light detection and ranging) work of Khalilabad-Bahraich railway line has been completed.
