This expressway will be built from Gorakhpur in Uttar Pradesh to Siliguri in West Bengal. After the completion of this green field expressway being built parallel to the India-Nepal border under the Bharatmala project, the distance between Gorakhpur district of UP and Siliguri in Bengal will be reduced to just 519 kilometers.

This expressway will be built from Gorakhpur in Uttar Pradesh to Siliguri in West Bengal. At present, it takes 15 hours to cover the distance between these two cities. The reason for this is that at present there is no direct road from Gorakhpur to Siliguri. After the construction of this expressway, if you start by car at 7 am, you will reach Siliguri at 3 pm.
This expressway will make travelling from Siliguri to Delhi and major cities of UP comfortable. Bihar will benefit the most from this project. Economic and employment activities will be promoted in different districts of the northern area of Bihar. Rs 32000 crore will be spent on this expressway project.

The three states of UP, Bihar and West Bengal will benefit from the Gorakhpur-Siliguri Expressway. 416.2 km of the expressway will pass through Bihar, 84.3 km through Uttar Pradesh and 18.97 km through West Bengal. Land from 111 villages in the three districts of Gorakhpur, Deoria and Kushinagar has been acquired for this expressway.
